This untitled abstract figurative piece is inspired by a dream. A giraffe in distress approaches a brilliant, vibrant multicolored tree for food/life and is met with death by a camouflaged hunter.
A tree leaf modeled in the shape of a hand gun is seen pointing at the pale, white, lifeless giraffe.
This is symbolic of the human desire to kill something they do not understand or feel threatened by instead of preserving and inquiring of it.
Parallels are drawn to the white Americans who’s uncertainty and fear compelled them to numerous irrational and senseless killings of African Americans who they once saw as disposable sub humans.
My choice of medium for this submission is oil paint of which palette knives were used for application of my expressions My palette knives create texture and properly express the noise, chaos and energy that I want to resonate with the viewer.
